The Fristoe Family

This is my husband's maternal line. His great-great grandmother was Elizabeth Fristoe who married Alexander McCorkle.

On some records the name is spelled Fristo, Fristow, sometimes Friston, and Fristoe. This family has always spelled the name Fristoe.

The name may have originally been French as there are Fristoes or Fristeaus in Paris now. In old France, it is said, Fristoe would have meant border of water or edge of water.

It is said there were Fristoes in England in the fourteenth century.
